How to Edit, Retry, and Refine Your Portrait

Creating AI-powered art is a collaboration. Oftentimes, the first result is perfect, but sometimes it needs a small "polish" to become a true masterpiece. Fable offers three ways to refine your image.

Method 1: The Retry Tool (Broad Changes)

• Who can use this: Everyone (on the Result/Preview page).

• Best for: Changing the overall vibe, gender, or lighting immediately after generating.

Located on the Result Page (top right corner, Round Arrow icon), this tool lets you iterate on the image you just created.

Options:

• Retry: Recreates the portrait using the same photo and style but with a different random variation. Use this if the first result was "almost there" but you want to roll the dice again for a better expression.

• Make Masculine: Instantly shifts the portrait's "vibe" to be more masculine. Adds bolder colors (deep reds, blues), masculine clothing, and removes delicate jewelry.

• Make Feminine: Instantly shifts the portrait's "vibe" to be more feminine. Adds softer colors (pastels, gold), dresses/lace, and jewelry.

• Describe Changes: A text box where you can command specific changes.

  • Example: "Change the cape color to royal blue."

  • Example: "Make the background brighter."

Cost: 1 Credit per regeneration (or ~0.33 credits for simple edits depending on your pack).

Method 2: Ask Charles (Concierge Service)

• Who can use this: Everyone.

• Best for: When you don't want to learn the tools yourself, or if you don't have access to the Precision Editor.

Our AI Agent, Charles, can perform edits for you by interpreting your requests and applying the best AI tools available for your account.

1. Visit fable.surrealium.world/support.

2. Tell him: "Please remove the hat from my last generated image" or "Fix the lighting."

3. Charles will process the edit and present you with the result.

Method 3: The Precision Editor (Specific Details)

• Who can use this: Starter Pack & Studio Pack members only.

• Best for: Fixing small details like eyes, removing items, or changing accessories without altering the rest of the portrait.

The Precision Editor allows you to make targeted changes to your image using text commands.

How to access:

1. Log in and go to Menu → My Masterpieces.

2. Click on the image you want to edit.

3. Click the Brush Icon (top right).

How to use:

1. Describe the Change: In the text box, describe exactly what you want to alter. Be specific about the object and the change.

   • Good Prompt: "Change cape color to blue."

   • Good Prompt: "Remove the collar."

   • Good Prompt: "Make the eyes brighter."

2. Submit: The AI will semantically analyze your text, locate the specific area (like the cape or background), and apply the change while keeping the rest of the image untouched.

Advanced Features (Studio Pack Only):

• Manual Brushing: Studio Pack members can switch to Advanced Mode to manually "paint" over specific areas with a brush tool for pixel-perfect control before typing their prompt.

Cost: ~0.33 Credits per edit (3 edits ≈ 1 Credit).

Best Practices for Perfect Edits

To save credits and get the best results:

1. One Change at a Time Don't ask the AI to "Fix the eye, change the background, and add a hat" in one go. Fix the eye first. Apply. Then add the hat.

2. Be Direct Use action verbs.

• Bad: "I don't like the collar."

• Good: "Remove collar."

3. Use the Right Source Photo Important: We do not offer manual retouching by human artists. If the face in the portrait does not look like your pet (likeness issue), "editing" rarely fixes it. Instead, please Retry (Method 1) using a different photo where your pet is facing the camera with better lighting.
